Halloween is coming, yall!
This is one of m favourite holidays and I cannot wait to decorate my classroom for it. If I could, I would have monsters, vampires and witches around me all year! So, to start of the Spooky Season, let's talk about Halloween classroom decorations!
I've been browsing Pinterest for a very long time now (really, my Halloween board has like 200 pins right now, check it out here), so I think that I'm capable of giving you a quick overview of Halloween classroom decorations ideas! So take a look, get inspired and go all in!
PS.: All the ideas I talk about are really easy and affordable, so don't worry about your budget. All you need is some creativity and manual skills ;).
PS.2: If you're interested in sources of the pictures I'm using in this post, just click the photo. It will take you to the original post.
Door decor
I really like the idea of decorating the door to the classroom. There are so many ways of doing it so we can really get creative with it. What is more, we can do it in a really affordable way. Usually, all you need is some paper, scisors and tape.
Let's start with some designs which are perfect for younger classes.
And some ideas for students who are a little bit older.
You may also go all in and decorate not only the door, but also the walls of your classroom. This may be a little bit more time consuming but, in my opinion, definitely worth it!
Window decor
Since we talked about doors, let's move to windows! I think that this is the most popular (and the easiest) way of decorating any room for Halloween. There are plenty of ways to do it, depending on you bugdet and free time. Remember that you can always ask your student to halp you decorating. That way, the interior will be way more personalized and special, both for you and for your pupils!
The idea I've been seeing the most is putting spider webs in your windows. This project is extremely easy and really effective.
As you can see, you can make your window spider webs out of string or simply out of paper. I definitely like the string ones better, but I think that paper will we better for toddlers and easier to create.
But it doesn't end with spider webs! What else can we put in our classroom windows?
All of those ideas can be made out of paper, which makes it really easy. Just get creative, find some paper and a pair of scissors and cut out some creepy shadows!
Easy DIY Halloween Decoration
I believe that everything you do yourself is worth way more than when it's store bought. Creating some DIY Hallooween decoration can not only be really relaxing but also have outstanding results! Let's take a look at some simple crafts you can make with your students.
Paper plates are an amazing material you can use in creating your Halloween decorations. They are very cheap and easy to turn into something amazing.
This year, I went for the eyeballs you can see in one of the pictures. However, instead of printing the eye, I decided to paint it myself. Of course, it takes way more time but I think that it looks way better! If you want to see this idea in use, follow me on Instagram @fifth.hour. I will be posting some pictures very soon!
I also really liked the idea to make cages out of plastic baskets. Surely, this one requires you to buy some resources but I think that it's worth it.
Spooky Novels Shelf
A lot of us like to read some spooky stories around Halloween. But how to encourage your students to join this custom? Set up a spooky shelf! You have to start with gathering some Halloween themed stories (let me know in the comments what are your favourites!) and then follow one of the ideas below.
Having a shelf like one of those definitely will encourage your students to browse through the books and, ultimately, to grab some to read!
Let's move to the decorations which are impossible not to notice. A little bit more difficult to put up but looking amazing. How to decorate the ceiling of your classroom for Halloween?
You may also go for some garlands. These are very versatile, so you'll surely find something your student will love. For yunger groups, you can go for some cartoon characters, like the ones from
Monster Inc., but the older pupils will definitely love some ghosts or spiders.
Aren't the last ones so cute?
Don't worry, I didn't forget the classic. Time for pumpkins!
Pumpkins are usually carved on Halloween but bringing knives into the classroom may not be the wisest idea. Therefore, let's stick to some brushes and paint. Let me show you some ideas of how to paint your pumpkins!
We talked about paper plates, so let's move to paper rolls. If you want to incorporate some of those ideas in your classroom, start collecting the rolls as soon as possible! This is a really creative and eco-friendly idea, so I believe that many of you are going to like them. I am definitely using some of them this year!
And that's it for now! I hope that you like the ideas I gathered for you here and that you are going to use some of them this year. Remember that you can follow me on Instagram @fifth.hour to see how I decided to decorate my classroom this year. I have two rooms to do this year so I'm really excited about that.
Make sure to let me know what are your plans for this year's Halloween in the classroom in the comment section below!
